'Jung-Hoo Lee replacement' San Francisco Ramos gets first 'splash hit' for right-handed hitter



Heliot Ramos, who has been anchoring San Francisco's outfield since May in place of the injured Jung-Hoo Lee (San Francisco Giants), hit the first ever “splash hit” by a right-handed hitter, a long home run to the right side of the field.

Ramos hit the game-tying solo home run in the bottom of the ninth inning with his team trailing 3-2 against the San Diego Padres in the 2024 Major League Baseball (MLB) World Series at Oracle Park in San Francisco, California, USA, today (June 16).

Ramos's shot cleared the 7.3-meter-high right-field fence and the bleachers, landing directly in the ocean, known as McCovey Bay.

According to MLB.com, Ramos is the first right-hander to hit a splash hit in the history of Oracle Park, which opened in 2000.

Oracle Park, home of the San Francisco Giants, 파워볼실시간 is known to be unfavorable to right-handed hitters because of its high right-field wall and the wind that blows off the ocean toward the stadium.

All 104 splash hits before Ramos came from left-handed hitters.

Among Korean hitters, Hee-Seop Choi hit one out-of-the-park home run that dropped into McCovey Bay in 2004 for the Florida (now Miami) Marlins.

San Francisco lost to San Diego 4 to 3 in extra innings despite Ramos' historic game-winning home run.
